BloodSTOP offers Natural Solution to Bleeding Control
Las Vegas, NV – February 18th, 2008 – During trauma and surgery, stopping bleeding quickly in open wounds is a major concern. BloodSTOP® can help. A hemostatic gauze formed of the finest regenerated cellulose, BloodSTOP acts in seconds to reduce blood loss, potentially increasing patient survivability.
BloodSTOP works in several ways. The hemostatic effect helps activate coagulation and helps form thrombin in the body. BloodSTOP also absorbs water from the blood which increases concentration and viscosity while decreasing the speed of blood flow. Additionally, BloodSTOP swells quickly, producing a colloid after absorbing water, covering the wound and blocking the end of the blood capillary. Finally, BloodSTOP adheres to the platelet causing red blood cells to collect and activate the blood coagulation factor to facilitate the thrombus.
Whether for final treatment or temporary control, BloodSTOP safely and quickly stops bleeding. It interacts with blood platelets to form a gelatinous clear shield that seals the wound and stops bleeding quickly and safely. In situations requiring further medical attention, BloodSTOP has enough tensile strength to keep most wounds and lacerations together, and can stabilize bleeding and protect the wound from infection.
“We’re excited about this addition to our existing line of wound care products,” says Gary Cushing, Vice President of Sales, “because it protects the wound, hastening the healing process.”
BloodStop can be used on any animal that is bleeding. It is ideal for use in a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations including tail and ear crops , traumatic wounds, spay/neuters, de-claws and dental extractions. Each sterile gauze is individually packaged, and easy to use. One box of BloodStop contains four gauze packages.
BloodSTOP is marketed by PRN Pharmacal, an affiliate of PBI/Gordon Corp., Kansas City, MO. PRN is celebrating its 30th year of service to the veterinary pharmaceutical industry.
